I’ve noticed something interesting with some of my websites. I use Aution2Post to post listings from eBay on my websites. About a month and a half ago I started using TwitterFeed to publish the RSS feeds for a few of my websites to Twitter. For every posting, TwitterFeed creates a tweet which includes a link to the original post. Since then, Goog. Webmaster Tools is showing that the number of backlinks to my sites is steadily rising. This is good, right?

I did a bit of investigating and found that bloggers are picking up some of my tweets and placing them on their websites. I suppose they are using an automated process based on keywords found in the tweets.

Here’s one of my feeds on Twitter: http://twitter.com/kidsrainboots

Here are some pages with some of the backlinks to my website:

http://www.shopalize.com/kidsrainboots/links

This seems like a simple and easy way to get backlinks. Maybe too easy…I wonder if something bad will come from this?

  1. Nope! This is my exact model for every site. Works like a charm. You can also set it up to post to Facebook too through twitter feed. Create a group and then start sending invites to quickly spread your posts.

  2. Yes this is a good idea. I use the Twitme plugin for Wordpress which automates everything nicely.

  3. This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing! If you both are doing it I am sure it works. I have always lacked in the area of building back links. I have taken almost 2 months off from building any sites and I am still on pace for 1k – 1.2k this month. Although my traffic is dwindling more and more each day. Some of that is probably from Google’s mayday update this month though. I am looking to jump back into the game here shortly!
