Maybe 10 of my EPN sites are hosted on JustHost.

Last month JustHost sent me an email stating that one of my sites was using too much CPU. They stated that this is in violation of their Terms. As a courtesy, they disabled only the offending URL, not all of my sites at JustHost.

Well, this is not good. I emailed their customer service asking them to restore my site so I could login and fix the problem. They restored access, but only from my home computer IP address. I was able to login, I made some changes to the website, and I emailed JustHost asking them to fully restore my website. They did and it was working great.

Then, earlier this month I received another email from JustHost stating that two of my websites were using too much CPU. This time they disabled all of my websites hosted at JustHost. Again, I emailed them asking them to restore my access. Again, they restored my access allowing me to login only from my home computer.

I’ve decided to quit JustHost and move my websites to BlueHost. Bluehost seems to have a more friendly policy concerning excessive CPU usage.

After experiencing this shutdown with JustHost, I do not recommend JustHost to anyone who will be operating anything more than the simplest website. Even then, why take the chance that a spike in hits might cause you to be shut down? Go with BlueHost or HostGator.

Eventually, I imagine I’ll want to use dedicated web hosting, but at this time this option is not cost-effective for my operation. If anyone wants to recommend a good, inexpensive, dedicated web hosting service, I am listening. Thanks.

Stay tuned…

  1. Make double sure that you are deleting expired auctions!!!! If not, your recordset can grow to 10,20, 30k records. Everytime you go to post an auction using A2P the script will run through all of those records looking for duplicates and bring the server to it’s knees. It’s not the host’s fault, it is a limitation of the script.
